Owl birds are raptors, birds of prey, in the same family as hawks and eagles. They are predators, carnivores, and they swallow their prey whole. They eat mammals, especially rodents, reptiles, insects, and other birds.
Owls are nocturnal, which means they are active at night. Some people think that owls can turn their head all the way around in a 360-degree circle. When you study of owl facts, however, you’ll see that it’s a lie. Owls can turn their head only three-fourths of the way around.
Owls are in the order of Strigiformes. There are two families of owls, Tytonidae family consisting of barn owls and Strigidae family, which consists of the typical owls. One of the reasons, the owl should be able to turn its head because their eyes can not move in their sockets. To see in any direction, the owl has to turn the whole head.
