Mercury The Tiniest Planet in The Solar System

Mercury is now the tiniest and smallest planet in the solar system and the closest planet to the Sun. It has a diameter of over 3,000 miles, this small planet is only about 1/3 the size of Earth and only about 40 percent larger than the moon of Earth.

On a scale if Earth is supposed to be of the size of a baseball then Mercury would be of size of a golf ball. Mercury only finishes three rotations on its axis during two orbits around the Sun.

Mercury has a very long orbit that the planet is about 28,500,000 miles from the sun at its closest approach, known as perihelion, and as far as 43,000,000 miles at its farthest approach which is know as aphelion.
